Why Study the Bible?
1. To Know God’s Will and Commandments
Studying the Bible reveals the Most High’s laws, statutes, and commandments — the foundation of righteous living.

Baruch 4:1
This is the book of the commandments of God, and the law that endureth for ever: all they that keep it shall come to life; but such as leave it shall die.
The Bible contains life-giving instructions. Without studying it, we can’t know how to truly live righteously.
2. To Remember Our Identity as Israelites
The scriptures remind the true Israelites of their heritage, purpose, and chosen status.

Deuteronomy 7:6
"For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself..."

2 Esdras 6:56–57
"As for the other people, which also come of Adam, thou hast said that they are nothing..."
Studying helps Israelites understand they are set apart and must return to their God-given role.
3. To Gain Wisdom and Understanding
God's Word is the true source of wisdom and guidance in a corrupt world.

Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 1:1, 26 (KJVA)
"All wisdom cometh from the Lord..."
"If thou desire wisdom, keep the commandments, and the Lord shall give her unto thee."

Psalms 111:10
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom..."
Wisdom isn’t from the world—it comes from studying and applying scripture.
4. To Avoid Destruction and Deception
Without study, we fall into sin, false doctrine, and destruction.

Hosea 4:6
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..."

Isaiah 28:10
"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line..."
Scriptural understanding protects against false teachings and spiritual blindness.
5. To Be Comforted and Encouraged
The scriptures offer hope and strength in times of hardship.

Romans 15:4
"For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope."

Wisdom of Solomon 3:9
"They that put their trust in him shall understand the truth..."

The Bible is a source of spiritual healing and hope.
6. To Prepare for Judgment and Salvation
We will be judged by what is written — so we must know what’s written.

Revelation 20:12
"...the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books..."

2 Timothy 2:15
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed..."
Studying ensures we're ready when Christ returns to judge.
